EVERGREEN YOGA Teacher Training 2005

Evergreen Yoga is delighted to offer Teacher Training courses that are designed to meet the standards set forth by the Yoga Teachers Alliance for professional certification. These in-depth, comprehensive classes represent a total immersion in the study of yoga and will require your full attention. Proficiency in asana is NOT a factor.

Each course is taught by Janana and is held at the Evergreen Yoga Studio in Bethesda. This allows participants to live at home while receiving the training during each two weekend 32-hour intensive. All classes meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lunch takes place on a tree-shaded patio where Shelly facilitates discussions on the practical and business considerations of teaching yoga.

2005 Invitation

Part 1 - YOGA SCIENCE OF MAN is offered on June 11, 12, 18, and 19. Subjects covered include the philosophy of yoga, discussions of relevant scriptures and Sanskrit terms, as well as asana, pranayama, the basic anatomy of the postures, and the chakras. Part 1 is appropriate for all serious students, even those who do not intend to teach. If you have already completed this course proceed to part 3. Part 2 is offered on alternate years.

Part 3 -ANATOMY IN ASANA is offered for the first time in response to student requests. It will take place on July 23, 24, 30, and 31. Beginning with the feet and moving up to the neck and head, this course is an in-depth study of Yoga asanas as they relate to the joints and spine. The emphasis here will be onhow to align, how to correct misalignment, which poses strengthen and which poses stretch. Ample time will be allotted for practice teaching.

Janana , RYT 500 hours, has dedicated herself to the propagation of Yoga. She has been teaching since 1975. Before moving to Florida over 25 years ago, she operated a flourishing studio in Bethesda. Hundreds of students have completed her teacher training in South Florida and here at Evergreen Yoga.

Shelly Greenberg , RYT 500 hours, a devoted student of Janana, has been offering classes at Evergreen Yoga since 1979. Her emphasis is on the use of the breath and adaptation of the poses as described by T.K.V. Desikachar and his senior teachers.

The fee for each course is $1000 and includes all follow-up advice and job referrals, hands-on training, instructional materials, individual guidance, and exploration of all aspects of Yoga. If needed, consider applying for an individualized payment schedule. For those who wish to apply their hours for yoga certification, a written exam must be completed.
